People need to get their geographics correct. Interstate 195-E is 50mph and when you take exit 6 (114s Barrington) or better know as the EastShore Expressway the speed limit is still 50mph. The speed drops to 45mph about 2-3 miles south near the Gates of Heaven Cemetary. It continues to be 45mph until you get into Barrington then it drops to 40mph and 35mph. Drivers need to pay attention and you won't be getting a speeding ticket! •

I believe that the place referred to is in East Providence, not Barrington. If you are headed east on Interstate 195 and take the Barrington exit, which is Route 114, there is a part where the speed limit drops notwithstanding the fact that the road continues to be a limited access highway.•

The speed trap that this person is talking about is in East Providence, and that is before Barrington.
There are two other speed traps that relate to this one in East Providence: 1. Going south on 114 towards Barrington, just before the road becomes 1 lane, the speed limit changes from 45 to 35, and two police men sit on the barrier in the middle of the road. This speed trap is usually only in place late at night.
2. Going north on 114 toward Providence: just before you merge onto 195 West, there are usually police sitting on the right-hand side of the road.•

Area he referred to is actually East Providence just off I-195 onto rt. 114. It goes from 55 to 40 quickly and the East Prov. Cops do sit here on occasionally and are strict. In Barrington farther south the Barrington cops usually are on the Northbound side just north of town at dawn/dusk or rush hour. This is infrequent, once or twice a month, and they are much more reasonable than East Prov. If the Staties were there it was a special occasion. I drove this road 2-3 time a day for 10 years up to 5/07. Never got a ticket (thanks to Valentine 1.)

I think this is across from the Gates of Heaven which isnt Barrington yet. Its true, you get off the highway and the road changes to 45mph maybe even 40mph and there is almost always police waiting with radar. They tend to be all along Rt 114 because there are so many accidents from the people who really speed yet the people doing 48 in a 45 seem to be the ones getting pulled over.•

The downtown area is miles from the 40 + curves.

i disagree with this speed trap...i travel this road daily and where he got pulled over it is like 5 miles off the interstate and in a very curvy section that heads into a downtown area.
