These patrol vehicles belong to the Department of Public Safety, Motor Transportation Division Police. They have the same power and authority as the New Mexico State Police. However, their primary duties are associated with Commercial Motor Vehicles.

I-40 doesn't run any where near Bernalillo (20 miles south). Nor does exits 180 to 169. I-25 runs through Bernalillo, and exits 240 and 242.

I agree with the 3 prior posts, except that the first refers to mile markers on I_25, not I40.

Gray and Black Cruisers are New Mexico DOT. They can also issue violation citations to passenger cars.

This is a little confusing. While I-40 does go through Bernalillo County, it doesn't go through the Town of Bernalillo, which is farther north, in Sandoval County. The area referenced, from mile markers 180 to 169 is more appropriately referred to as Tijeras Canyon, and is just east of Albuquerque.
