Latitude: 39.8269
Longitude: -105.067
Description: Motorcycle officer sits on the south side in a driveway turn off that goes no where. This road was only opened two or three years ago and according to the officer that stopped me the neighbors were complaining about the exessive speed of the cars. There are no houses nor streets that have access to this part of 72nd, only one turn off into a park so I don't know what neighbors he was talking about.

I've commuted on this stretch of 72nd since it opened, and I have never once witnessed ANY drag racing or even wreckless driving. Cash cow. Easy duty for lazy cops.

I found that 40 MPH was low for this street. Other streets like it, like Federal for instance from 120th to about 104th is 55 MPH, so this one being 40 just didn't fit. I got a ticket as well on that street, and I wasn't using it as a dragstrip either, just normal driving. There is a difference between racing and casual speeding, and the racers are the ones that need the tickets. I love the comment about Arvada cops not being able to solve a crime that didn't involve a radar gun.

No, you will not get ticketed for doing 41 MPH! And as a neighbor in the area, I get tired of listening to all of the cars racing on this section of the road. True, there are no intersecting streets, but that is still no reason to turn the street into a dragstrip, which is what many people do. Kudos to the cops for trying to keep it safe for everyone.

You bet. According to what one decades-long resident neighbor of ours told us years ago, Arvada cops don't know how to solve any crime that doesn't involve a radar gun. You described 72nd perfectly. I see them there nearly every day, sometimes two or three. The other speed traps listed for this city are accurate, too. It's called "Revenue enhancement."

Yes I got a ticket here too. It is a wide open street with not many turn offs I didn't realize I was even speeding but got nailed :(

Speed limit is only 40 through this stretch of divided roadway with no active driveways other than the one for the park. Purely revenue generation!

Speed limit is only 40 through here. Nothing more than revenue generation!
