One tactic they use is a vehicle traveling just below the speed limit and they get you when you pass it. Be careful even when you think you are outside the city limits.

Won't have to worry about this one too much longer - they are going around the city with the new 4 lane.....

Grady is notorious for their speed trap. Frequently they are outside the city limits (both sides of the city) in unmarked cars just lurking and waiting for a chance to give a ticket. There is no chance for dispute and they will manipulate the radar to show you are speeding. They have even given tickets outside the city limits on the side entering from Gould (another speed trap).

Grady and Gould have been well-known speed traps for a very long time. I knew about them as a teenager and I am now 45 years old!

Totally agree! I got caught there. Not a soul on the road or a town in sight but it was still considered within the city limits (even 3 miles past the desolate intersection where you can turn to go to Grady) and the cop was hiding. The 45 mph limit seems to go on forever and is not just at the intersection. Do not speed up until you see a sign that says you can! When I got caught, there were no signs for several miles! I thought the general rule for unposted areas was 1 mile either way of the intersection but apparently that does not apply in Arkansas.

I was stopped twice in less in six months. Both being civil and driving the speed limit. The second time policeman said if I had been ticketed in the last year that you are going to jail. after taking my license and going to his car, I called my wife to be prepared to come and bail me out. After about fifteen minutes he came back and said there was no record showing being ticketed in the last year. He asked me to sign the ticket and I breathed a sigh of relief and left. The police dept are not very intellegent to say the least. Thank God for record keeping.

The Mayor makes no calls over the Police Dept. as far as citations go.

We are all certified in radar/lidar. We have to certified through the State. So go ahead, take it to court. Egg on the face!

For the person who received a citation for doing 25/45, I would have cited you for impeding the flow
of traffic (driving too slow).
There is NO 45 speed sign in Grady.
It's hwy. 65 not 67

This is definitely a speed trap. I was going 25 in a 45 and the cop ticketed me for going 55. I tried to fight it to no avail. I was so innocent and could do nothing about it. That was the second ticket he gave me and each time it was this type of situation. I went to the Mayor but he refused to even look into the situation.

I agree. I now slow to under 5mph than the posted signs.

agree that they have full time policeman just to write tickets. And yes, the speed limit drops quickly.

I have been a victim of this speed trap. They do not have radar certification because they cannot afford it so you can win in court if you decide to go that route.

We now slow down to 50mph when we know that we are 1 mile from the city limits!
