I have travelled that section of Route 4 at least a dozen times in the last year....weekends, weekdays and there was always a sheriff parked somewhere between West Bridgewater and Bridgewater village. My son got nailed here driving home from college.

•Subpeona training records and schedules for the officer. Deposition ALL former and current deputys and ask about integrity of the cop who ticketed you. Ask if the deputy is working unlawfully by comparing work schedule with full or part time status, if part time see below: -By statute, a full-time police officer means “a law enforcement officer with duties of a predictable and continuing nature which require more than 32 hours per week and more than 25 weeks per year” (20 VSA§ 2358). If deputy is a part time certified officer and violated the above statute, than he and his agency commited a 4th amendment seizure (call ACLU), and a violation of 13 V.S.A. 2405(a)(1)(E). Unlawful Retraint, a felony. The term "restrain" means "to restrict substantially the movement of another person without the person's consent" Contact the Attorney General.

Yes, it's all true. Watch the speed limits carefully on 4 in Bridgewater, breaking as necessary, as opposed to coasting down. They will be there...and they do go after out of staters moreso than locals. Conversely, lots of people live close to the road in those areas and rushing traffic is just bad news. Speed limits are safety rules afterall...

Having lived in Bridgewater all my 50+ years here's how it works : The local sheriff's department sells themselves to the board of selectmen by promising they will generate enough revenue in tickets to pay for their services. The Town makes more dough And contrary to comment posted, it is poorly marked and the sheriffs take advantage of that fact.

I travelled through this area and was keeping up with traffic. I, an out-of-stater, was pulled over while the three Vermonters in front of me and the one behind me were let through. The speed limit was marked 50, then 25, then 35 in a distance of about 3/10ths of a mile. Having traveled all over the country, Vermont has the worst marked, and most inane system of speed limits. •

Contrary to the statement, there is plenty of warning from either direction. This is a condition of such long standing that I'm suprised that there remains anyone unaware of it. If there is any other traffic on the road you will be forced to slow down because They Will.•
