Description: Serene Street between Pecos and Eastern is an odd, roller-coaster residential street which is posted at 25 mph. Police sit on cross streets and manage to catch many careless motorists because it is not easy to keep speed that low. A friend was fined over

Drivers feel compelled to speed on this road because of the roller-coaster effect. Cops just stand on the side of the road at the end of Serene and point cars down. I've come through the area and saw as many as five cars pulled over waiting in line to receive their tickets. Currently closed, this road should open again first or second week of December. Homeowners have given permission allowing motorcycle cops to use their property, driveways, and even garages to radar near Jessup.

Yes, this is a speed trap, but mostly because it is a residential area and there are children at play in the streets and on bicycles. This street has been used excessively as a thorough fare from Pecos to Eastern to avoid the congestion at Eastern and 215. Although it's posted at 25 mph most motorists drive in excess of 45 mph.

The 25 mph speed limit here is justified due to the road dips that hide cars for Jessup st. as they enter Serene. I cautiously enter Serence and yet have had several speeding cars on Serene almost rear end me.

I agree, today my wife got a speeding ticket on this same road. It is basically a rural type road that is a roller-coaster. 25 mph is ridiculously low and it is hard to maintain this speed. They are not going to solve the speeding and erratic driving problem by going after easy targets, the normal neighborhood commuter.
