Speed Trap at State Highway New 275, Fremont, NE
- Fremont, NE
-
0
- Latitude: 41.4416
- Longitude: -96.498
- Description: Drivers coming into Fremont from the east have a speed limit drop from 65mph to 55mph after the curve into Dodge county. It's marked but there's no change in the road to indicate the need for a lower limit. At the Hwy 30 interchange the limit drops to 35mph for the construction area. Radar can be taken at any of the three street overpasses that screen the median from either side. By the time you see orange barrels it's far too late.

Speeding tickets are designed for one purpose and one purpose only and that is to put more money in the county and state coffers. A very large part of this sum of money goes to fund our "terribly overworked and underpaid school teachers" Law enforcement is the instrument through which the county and state collect additional funds to help our "depressed and "underfunded" educational money devouring system. We working "stiffs" who are paying through the nose in taxes already are the ones pinched again when we are in a hurry to get someplace to get the job done in order to fund the "tax consumer", who, by the way includes the police officers and highway patrolman giving you your ticket. Remember, it is all about the money. If you doubt me, follow the money trail.

I feel speed traps are contraproductive and nothing more than a form of entrapment. It would make much more sense for law enforcement to be out on the highways, visible and preventing speeding than to set traps in obvious areas where there is a sudden change in the limit and a place to easily meet a ticket quota.

I got nailed there, I honestly was not aware the limit was 55, I was ticketed for 66, I have not had a ticket since 1970. The State patrol officier did not offer me any mercy. I have no respect for them any longer. I will never give to them in any way. It cost me $194 and will now have to take a test to renew my CDL. The S.T.O.P. program is not available to CDL holders as of a year ago. Why is that? Can't we be allowed one ticket. This country is selling our freedoms away everyday. Thanks for your site. I just hope the officer that ticketed me, feels the same compassion from something that happens in his life. He ruined a part of mine. Still bitter about it.
